RFSL Malmö the Malmö chapter of what is now called The Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex Rights was formed In 1971. One of their earliest activities was to rent the restaurant here to host their nightclub Club Max. RFSL Malmö contained smaller factions, like the Gay Power Group, who carried out actions like "same-sex dancing" at the Kronprinsen restaurant. They also organized the city's first liberation demonstration. RFSL Malmö would later move into a space here, at östra Farmarvägen 21c. Their premises included "a lounge, a colour TV room, a discoth que room and an office". Some saw RFSL as a bourgeois organisation, and wanted to take a more radical approach to LGBTQI rights. This attitude brought about activist groups like Lila Faran, the 5-May group and HAML. They held demonstrations, distributed leaflets, gave out information to schools, and provided informal counselling.
