Founded in 1893, AB Fabriken Saturnus moved to their newly built premises on Lantmannagatan in 1937.
Founded in 1893, AB Fabriken Saturnus moved to their newly built premises on Lantmannagatan in 1937. Offices, factories and warehouses were all set up here in the new industrial district. Designed by architect Stig F Johansson, the new building cost 200,000 kronor to build. The business was acquired by the Liepe family in 1920. Soft drinks were their main concern, but they also produced essences and seasonings derived from fruits and spices (their mulled wine mix was a big seller). Changes to licensing laws in 1995 enabled them to start making their own alcoholic beverages. Piratens Besk ( The Pirate s Bitters ) is one of their best known products. In 2000, the family business moved to Fosieby, on the outskirts of Malmö. Photography: Malmö-boken, 1946
