Sadly, threats and violence have been part of Malmö's LGBTQI history, affecting the lives of many LGBTQI people. A former chairman of RFSL Malmö remembers how the association took action against homophobic attacks, back in the 1980s: I remember that the board asked the police to come to our premises for talks. A couple of guys had been assaulted on their way home from the 4:an nightclub. The police came up with the idea of setting a trap. We got some volunteers to stand outside 4:an on a Saturday night. I saw some guys came over and start being very threatening. Suddenly police cars came from all directions and the boys ran across the park.
