"Kallis", one of the city's nude saunas and bathing spots, has been an important and well-attended unofficial meeting place for LGBTQI people over the years.
"Kallis", one of the city's nude saunas and bathing spots, has been an important and well-attended unofficial meeting place for LGBTQI people over the years. It was built in 1898, and had its own station on the railway between Malmö and Limhamn. A storm around Christmas 1902 more or less destroyed the bathhouse, causing it to be completely rebuilt. It has retained the same look since then. For more than a century it has been a place for swimming, sunbathing, and making contacts that have led to long-term relationships and shorter acquaintances. But woe betide anyone on the women s side of the bathhouse anyway who lies down in a place that has been set aside for one of the old regulars!
