In 1887, horse-drawn trams were introduced to Malmö, operated by a private company. 10 years later two omnibus companies popped up, providing horse-drawn carriages for the masses. It wasn t until 1905 that the city took control of public transport, and then electrified the tram network a year later. Municipal bus lines ran alongside more expensive private competitors from 1929. Number 16 was the first motorized bus line in Malmö. The number 15 buses that you can see in the picture, travelled from the central omnibus station to Kulladal. Fricksgatan is on the right. It's part of the Abel neighborhood, which has been completely transformed since the photograph was taken. Foto: Jeanette Rosengrens samling
