For many years, the legendary Malmö nightclub Fredman stood at Regementsgatan 4. It hosted countless memorable events, including "Cabaret Fredagsbarnen" from 1970 onward it was a chaotic blend of music, theater, improvisation, poetry, politics and comedy, organized by Jacques Werup, Lasse Söderberg and Rolf Sersam. In 1985 Wilmer X recorded his live album V-I-L-D here, and in 1988 Chet Baker came to visit. Over the years it became home to an evolving set of musical genres and movements, and it was a longtime hub for the city s punk scene. In this photograph, Malmö musicians Jan-Eric "Fjellis" Fjellström, Arne Franck, Mikael Wiehe and Håkan Nyberg stand outside the club. Fredman was referenced in "Bluesen i Malmö", a 2017 song by celebrated Swedish singer Thåström (formerly of Ebba Grön and Imperiet): "I see Leman, Maersk, Hamburg S d rolling by I see Kinakrogen and the ghetto the first time I came here I see Fredman's and cheap beer at Sjöfartshotellet Back and forth across the bridge, back and forth
