In the 1990s, readers of RFSL Malmö's member magazine, Traffic, were introduced to the Indigo Girls, "the proud football lesbians" who were tearing up the local amateur football scene. (They actually played their games on the other side of Pildammsvägen, where the sports facilities have since been replaced by newly built houses). Malmö has also been home to Marta, the best female football player of all time. The Brazilian played for FC Rosengård from 2014 to 2017, before moving on to Orlando Pride in the USA. In 2021, she got engaged to teammate Toni Pressley. FC Rosengård is considered the most successful team in Swedish women's football. Foto 1. Malmö stadsarkiv Foto 2.
