The English translation of 'Far i Hatten' is 'Father in the Hat'. Per Anton Holmgren is, according to legend, the father responsible for the name of this long-standing Malmö institution. It has existed in one form or another since 1892, under the more prosaic names Parkrestaurangen and Gamla restaurangen ( The Old Restaurant ). Per Anton was the manager in the 1920s, at a time when the venue was struggling for customers. The park manager suggested that he start advertising, so Per Anton popped up wearing a silly vest and a top hat. The name stuck, the customers arrived, and it s still going almost a century later.
