Malmö first hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 1992 at the city s ice stadium (Isstadion). Sweden was represented by Christer Björkman who sang "I morgon är en annan dag" ("Tomorrow is another day") and came second last. The winner was Linda Martin, taking the first of three consecutive Irish victories. The winning song, " Why me ?", was written by Jonny Logan. It was his third victory, since he had won as a singer in 1980 ("What's Another Year") and 1987 ("Hold me now", which he also wrote). It was second time lucky for Linda: she was runner-up in 1984, behind Sweden s winning entry, "Diggiloo Diggiley" by Herreys.
