This was the site of the Social Democrat newspaper Arbetet's first office. In 1907, chief physician Frey Svenson published a column about the illegality of homosexual acts. He brought up research by German doctors Hirschfeld and Näcke, who argued that homosexuality was a normal variation of love that has existed in all ages. Svenson disagreed, but while he felt that homosexuality was an abnormality that should be curbed, he didn t consider it to be a legal matter. Homosexuality should be just as little punishable, and homosexual acts as seldom punished, according to other stipulations, as when normal sexual intercourse is.
