"Blåkulla" became emblematic of the many women's collectives around Möllevången and St Knuts Torg in the 1970s and 1980s. In this large four-room, third-floor apartment, lesbian women lived collectively for a number of years, socialising informally with like-minded people. In the absence of public spaces where they could meet freely, lesbian women often hung out in private homes, Blåkulla also became a place where study groups and feminist activists would meet. Large parties with live music and dancing were also common, and helped create networks and opportunities for socialising for young gay people invited into the community.
