This building was constructed in 1895 as an outdoor dance floor roofed but without walls, so dancers could move their bodies in any weather. It s made of wood in the snickarglädje style that was popular at the time. As more and more dancefloors sprung up in the park, the outdoor dancefloor lost much of its appeal. All of us girls put our handbags in a large pile on that dance floor and headed elsewhere, says a woman who danced here in the 1950s. When we went home at the end of the evening, we d go back and get them. There was never a penny missing. In the 1960s, the dance floor became a bingo hall and in 1973 a playhouse. In 1993, the building was renovated and the following year, the Children's Stage opened.
