A fisherman’s cottage with a rich history
The fisherman Karl Larsson and his wife bought the house in 1881.
The fisherman Karl Larsson and his wife bought the house in 1881. But since his wife died after a difficult childbirth in 1897 he was left alone with six children who all grew up here in the cottage. Except for a residence, this place has also been a preschool for poor children and a library. The library moved into the more spacious station house after the railroad s closure in 1971. Nowadays there is a gallery in the cottage. On the other two pictures, östergatan runs on the wrong side of the building. From here to the station back then there was no street, only a large meadow with a footpath.
