Ferries left from here to Copenhagen a place that offered richer entertainment and greater anonymity than Malmö. It was also in Denmark that the Circle of 1948 and R dstrumperne women's movement were formed. In 1971, the Danes arranged the first women's camp on Fem . Women from around the world participated, and it fostered networks of Nordic activists that would go on to play major roles in the growing lesbian movement.
