Malmö Tivoli was a fairground run by Danish-born Ole Olsson that first opened its gates in 1898. After paying the entrance fee, visitors could ride the carousels, hit the dancefloor, try their luck at the shooting range, or just settle down for something to eat and drink. Ole s wife ran the restaurant, specialising in hearty sandwiches. On the subject of food, there was even a sausage eating contest held here in the summer of 1899, although clowns, swordsmen and magicians were more common attractions.
