Kvinnohusgruppen i Malmö
At the end of the 1970s, Kvinnohusgruppen (the Women s House Group) was formed in Malmö in a first-floor, three-room property in the west-end of the old city.
At the end of the 1970s, Kvinnohusgruppen (the Women s House Group) was formed in Malmö in a first-floor, three-room property in the west-end of the old city. The group s members worked for women's rights in society. Through activities as diverse as political meetings and cabaret nights, they drew attention to a need that had been previously overlooked in Malmö a space that was open to all women, and which offered community and solidarity. Kvinnohusgruppen hosted study groups in subjects like photography, women's history and women's literature. Many of the participants were lesbians and the circumstances of gay women was always a central point of discussion. On March 8, 1985, a a benefit concert was held in support of Kvinnohusgruppen at Moriska Pavilion in Folkets Park. All the artists who performed were women and the majority were lesbians.
