Lund Central Station s original layout from the 1850s included a two-storey station building and a goods depot, both built from stone, and a train shed above two of the tracks. In 1872 both sides of the bottom floor of the station house were extended and three years later the train shed was removed. The station was expanded in stages throughout the 1880s and 1890s, a process that included removing the old platforms and modernising the station to the standards of the time. Lund Central is Sweden s third most used train station according to the number of passengers per day and is currently being rebuilt to meet the demands of today s rush-hour traffic.
