Lilla Tvärgatan was a part of the medieval city of Lund.
Lilla Tvärgatan was a part of the medieval city of Lund. During the 17th and 18th centuries there were mostly isolated farms until the area around Tvärgatan turned into one of Lund s most densely populated areas. The houses on the right of the photograph are from the 1820s. Further along Tvärgatan there was a brewery with an alehouse which stayed in operation until 1973! The buildings in the background were demolised in the 1960s to make way for a planned town square (the square was never built - in 1968 the plans were abandoned at the last minute).
