Kirurgen/Helen & Sivert's story
My parents, Helen and Sivert, met at the infectious diseases clinic in Lund.
My parents, Helen and Sivert, met at the infectious diseases clinic in Lund. Helen was studying to be a nurse there, and Sivert was studying physiotherapy. They were based in the same place, so when some people from their department went to Tivoli in Copenhagen, they both went along. Helen tried to persuaded Sivert to ride in a bumper car with her there was a bit of hesitation before he said yes. Apparently, he really had to squeeze into the car. This wasn t a good thing because when Helen hit another car, he smashed his knee against the inside. It was a total catastrophe Sivert ended up with a plaster cast from his thigh all the way down to his foot. Needless to say, Helen felt pretty guilty about the whole thing, so she offered to help him out. He wasn t so mobile, so she would bring food packages and things to his dorm room in Michael Hansen College, up at Sparta. Fast forward a few years they got married, had three kids, and are still happily together today! /Elinore Axelsson The first building to house the surgical clinic was completed in 1867 and was in full operation (no pun intended!) by 1968. It s a university administration office now. Foto1: Per Bagge
