The Admiralty Clock tower

The wooden houses on Varvsgatan is unfortunately long gone, but the beauriful Admiralty Clock tower, that was built 1699, is still standing proud in its place in the Admiralty park. The purpuse of the Clock tower was from the beginning to give the right time to the workers at the old Naval shipyard, and by doing so streamlining the work. South of the Clock tower, it had once been planned to build a large stone church that would replace the Karlskrona Admiralty Parish's wooden church, the Admiralty Church. The church was never completed and the wooden church instead became the parish's permanent church and is still so today. However, it was not until 1909 that the bell was used as church bell for the Admiralty Church. Photo: Blekinge museum archive
